LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister, Mian Shahbaz Sharif has said that maintenance of law and order and protection of life and property of citizens is his top priority and no effort would be spared in this regard. He also directed that in addition to eradication of crimes, effective measures be taken for nabbing proclaimed offenders. He further directed that installation of closed circuit cameras well as deployment of security guards at financial and trade centres would be ensured under Shops & Security Act. He was presiding over a meeting of Capital City Police Lahore, here on Wednesday, which reviewed in detail law & order situation in the provincial metropolis. The chief minister directed that patrolling system should be further improved for eradication of crimes form the city besides a watchful eye be kept on suspicious elements. He took strict notice of recent crimes of serious nature in the city and directed officers concerned to ensure early arrest of the elements involved as well as evolve a comprehensive strategy to prevent occurrence of such crimes in future. He warned that police officials guilty of laxity in the elimination of crimes and timely provision of justice to the people would not be spared. He directed Capital City Police Officer to take immediate measure for improving law & order situation in the city. He said that besides patrolling of mobile squads, police officials in plain-cloths be also deployed for promoting a sense of security among the citizens and discouraging criminal elements. The CCPO informed the meeting that significant progress has been made regarding investigation into incidents of heinous crimes in the city and special teams have been formed for apprehending the criminals. He further said that solid measures are being adopted for installation of close circuit cameras and posting of security guards at financial institutions as well as trade centers in the city.
