Pakistan was created to be a social welfare state as envisioned by its founder Quaid-e-Azam but the successive civil or military rulers we had in 62 years failed to established good governance that could change the life of ordinary people. There is no good news for us these days on the economic, educational or foreign policy fronts. Favouritism, nepotism and corruption are out of control. Law and order, the prime responsibility of any government, is appalling with people left completely on the mercy of robbers, looters, dacoits and the land mafia. -S.T.
