Man dies stealing high tension wire

KARACHI - At least six people were killed in separate acts of violence and mishaps in different part of the metropolis here on Friday. In the first incident, a man was shot dead and his son got injured during a robbery attempt here in the remit of Sarjani Police. The police said that Shan Uddin, son of Islam Uddin was killed when three burglars entered his house in Khuda Ki Basti in the Sarjani Town. They started looting valuables from the house and in the meantime he was shot dead when he tried to overpower them. The police said the deceased was an MQM activist and survived by four children. The police took the body to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for legal formalities. After getting information of Shan murder, a large number of MQM workers rushed to the hospital. The police said that it was not a target killing incident as the culprits took away two mobile phones with them. He was a mechanic and ran a shop in Godhra New Karachi Industrial Area. The police, however, registered a case against unidentified culprits on the complaint of the victims wife. Similarly, a bus-stand timekeeper was gunned down in Korangi, in the limits of Zaman Town Police. SHO Muhammad Bux Barohi said that 50-year-old Yameen Khan alias Bala, son of Ayub was the resident of Ibrahim Hyderi. He was going on a bus of route No 1-L, when reached Korangi 2 1/2 near S-2 bus stop stand, unidentified armed men opened fire at him, killing him on the spot. The SHO said that the deceased hailed from Punjab and was the timekeeper of route No 1-L bus stand. He said that the police believed personal enmity was the motive behind the incident. In another incident, a man was stabbed to death in Noorani Colony Lyari, in the Kalakot Police precincts. According to the police officials, Bahadur Ali, 32, was killed near Ghazi mosque in Noorani Colony. He went out of his home late on Thursday night and did not return. The police found his body in the wee hours of Friday. The police said the victim had no affiliation with any Lyari gang-warfare but he had some relation with Razzak Commandos friends that might be the reason behind Bahadurs murder. The police took the body to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for legal formalities and later handed over his family. The police have lodged an FIR on the complaint of his uncle Ayub Baloch against unidentified culprits. Meanwhile, a minor child was crushed to death in Gulsahn-e-Sikanderabad in the remit of Jackson Police. The police said that the deceased, identified as Asma, 5, daughter of Abdul Habib, a resident of the same area, was playing outside her house when suddenly a speeding unknown vehicle hit her, killing her instantly. The body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi from legal formalities and later handed over to the heirs. Similarly, a passer-by was hit to death near Ayesha Manzil in the limits of Gulberg Police. According to the police, Ahfaz uddin, 60, son of Muhammad Shafiq, a resident of PIB Colony was crossing the road when a speeding truck crushed him to death. The police arrested the driver namely Muhammad Asif, son of Muhammad Yousuf and impounded the truck. The police registered FIR 431/10 under Section 320, on behalf of the estate. The body was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for autopsy and later handed over to the family. Separately, a man was electrocuted near Gulshan Block 13-D in the jurisdiction of Gulshan Police. The police said that identity of the deceased, who appeared to be 30-year-old, could not be established immediately. He sustained severe electric shocks while stealing hi-tension electric wire and died instantly. The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for legal formalities and later moved to mortuary for identification.
