MIRANSHAH (AFP) A US drone strike on Friday killed at least six militants in the northwestern tribal belt, local security officials said. The strike hit an alleged militant compound in outskirts of Miranshah, the main town in North Waziristan district. A US drone fired two missile on a house used by militants as a compound, six militants have been killed and three wounded in this attack, a security official in Peshawar told AFP by telephone. One intelligence official said the house was completely destroyed. All those killed were local militants, we have no report about the presence of any 'high-value target, the intelligence official told AFP. Soon after the attack, Taliban surrounded the house and started rescue work, residents in Miranshah said. They have recovered six dead bodies and three injured from the debris, a local resident told AFP on the condition of remaining anonymous. The second US missile strike within an hour of the first one killed four more militants when it targeted a car in Datta Khel, a small town some 30km east of Miranshah, Pakistani officials said. US drones fired three missiles at the car, killing at least four militants inside the car, a security official in Peshawar told AFP on condition of anonymity. Two intelligence officials in Miranshah also confirmed the attacks and the toll, saying all those killed were local militants.
