islamabad - ISLAMABAD (APP) - National Council of Social Welfare (NCSW) will establish first home for elderly persons in federal capital soon with an accommodation capacity of 40 persons.  Chairperson (NCSW) Dr Nadeem Shafiq Malik told this agency that they would establish the old age home both for male and female inmates with the collaboration of a Non-Government Organisation (NGO) Nijjat Trust which is already running two shelter homes in Rawalpindi.

It is unfortunate that such practices are emerging in the society that are against traditions, he said adding the step has been taken after receiving a number of complains from such people. Homeless elderly people cannot fulfil their needs themselves and face countless problems including major issue of survival without shelter, he said.

The chairperson informed that the council will provide accommodation and bear the utility expenses while the rest of the facilities would be ensured by their partner NGO.

He stated that they have started working on the project which will be functional soon after completing all the formalities.
