SIALKOT-The district police suspended from service the Rangpura police SHO for remaining failed in arresting the killers of two leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami Mirza Zafar Baig Advocate and his cousin Mirza Imran Baig here.

The police authority ordered strict departmental probe against the suspended SHO and appointed inspector Rana Asif Nadeem as SHO Rangpura police station with immediate effect.

Three motorcyclists had gunned down Jamaat-e-Islami Sialkot leader Mirza Zafar Baig Advocate and his cousin Mirza Imran Baig, besides, injuring their third companion Mirza Nouman Baig, over a political row in Sialkot city’s congested Talwaara Mughalaan locality on August 31, 2016.

Rangpura police had registered the double murder case (No 357/2016) against accused Sher Khan, PML-N chairman of Union Council Rangpura, and his two real brothers Shan Khan and Wali Khan, Under Sections 302, 324, 148 and 149 PPC.

District Bar Association (DBA) leaders, JI Sialkot district Ameer Sheikh Attiqur Rehman, Arshad Mehmood Baggu Advocate, Arif Mehmood Sheikh and human rights activist Shahid Mir Advocate protested and condemned these brutal killings, demanding immediate arrest of the accused.

Meanwhile, hundreds of lawyers continued their agitation against the brutal killings. The protesting lawyers observed complete strike against these killings and boycotted the courts. They also staged demonstration and sit-in at Sialkot district courts.

Senior lawyers and human rights activists Shahid Mir and Arshad Mehmood Baggu, former presidents of Sialkot District Bar Association, led the protest. They were carrying banners and placards. They demanded early arrest of the killers, saying that the lawyers will continue their daily protest till the arrest of the culprits by the police. The Jamaat-e-Islami leaders said that the JI has unanimously passed the condemnation resolution against the brutal killings of the JI leaders in Sialkot.
