PESHAWAR - At least 30 people including five schoolgoing children were killed and more than 20 others injured in two attacks at different places in North Waziristan Agency Saturday. As many as 13 persons were killed in three missile allegedly fired by allied troops in Afghanistan with the help of US drone in Data Khel area, whereas 17 were killed in a suicide attack against the security forces checkpost at Miranshah, headquarters of North Waziristan. As per details, after a break of several months the first ever suicide attack took place at Miranshah, in which a bomber struck an explosives packed jeep with the Stadium where the security forces had established a check post. The attack killed 17 and injured 21 others. The killed persons included five school going children and 12 civilians. The injured included 12 students, six civilians and three personnel of the security forces. So far no one has claimed the responsibility for the suicide attack but it is believed that Taliban militants have resumed their activities after the putting of their leader Bait Ullah Mehsud on the wanted terrorists list by the United States. On the other hand, at least 13 persons were killed when three missiles hit a house in Khadarkhel of Data Khel Tehsil in North Waziristan Agency in early hours of Saturday. The house of Master Tariq was targeted with three missiles allegedly by the US led allied forces camping across the border in Afghanistan with the help of a drone. The killed persons included two children and a woman. Two missiles landed over the house simultaneously whereas the third one was fired after a break of around five minutes. The identity of the remaining casualties is yet to be determined. Though the local tribesmen claim that all the victims were locals, the officials in Miranshah, headquarters of North Waziristan Agency, said they included several foreigners. The identity of these alleged foreigners couldnt be established. Soon after the missile strikes, a large number of militants rushed to the site. After cordoning off the site, the militants went for rescue activities on their own. They didnt allow the locals to enter the site of the occurrence. Both the incidents were followed by extraordinary security measures and most of the roads were closed and heavy contingents of security forces were deployed. Traffic on main roads was halted. The tribesmen have reported curfew like situation all over Miranshah, Mirali and other main towns and villages.
