Hardly three weeks after the unfortunate terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team in Lahore, we saw another carnage at Manawan, Lahore. The former took place just after the imposition of the Governor's rule .The Governor, meanwhile, busied himself with the business of horse-trading to install a PPP government. The Governor and his men probably took their eyes off the responsibilities of the state. The Liberty terrorists were, thus, left untraced. For all we know, it may be the same criminal troupe that struck in Manawan this morning. I am glad to see the army being inducted in this operation. Hopefully, it will do a quick finishing job of it by killing the terrorists or catching them alive. I think the demand for resignation of Governor Punjab would now be imminent due to his dereliction of duty. I think the PPP government and its President should also be placed in the dock for they have failed completely. They must go now. A caretaker government should be put in place to hold elections to elect some honest, able and competent people who command the trust of the people of Pakistan. -ALIA QUERSHY, Hyderabad, via e-mail, March 30.
