PM directs ministry to improve power operational effectiveness

ISLAMABAD - Prime Minister Mir Hazar Khan Khoso on Thursday directed Ministry of Water & Power to increase its operational effectiveness through better supervision and management of the available resources so that effectiveness of power sector can be increased.
PM said this while chairing a meeting that was held to review power situation in the country. In the meeting a four member committee comprising representatives of Ministry of Water & Power, Finance and Petroleum and chaired by Principal Secretary to Prime Minister (PSPM) has been constituted to review the entire power sector and suggest recommendations so that the issues relating to power generation and distribution can be addressed.
The meeting was also attended by representatives from Ministry of Petroleum, Water and Power, Finance, Wapda and Pakistan State Oil (PSO) and senior officials of Prime Minister’s Secretariat. The Prime Minister said that power is a very critical issue which has far reaching impact on the economy and daily life of the people. He directed the committee to come up with concrete recommendations within three days.
