Lahore  - Book lovers Friday continued with the hunt for ‘the best companion’ at Pakistan’s largest book fair at the Punjab University.  More than 30,000 books were sold on the first day of the gala that will last on Saturday at 8pm.
Talking to the media during his visit the fair, PU VC Dr Mujahid Kamran stressed the need for promotion book-reading culture .  He said the purpose of book fair being organized by the administration was to provide books of all kinds on concessional rates under one roof.
Senior journalist Attaur Rehman said that it was obligation for all the Muslims to gain knowledge. He said that it was a matter of pleasure that PU administration had provided a good chance to book lovers. He said that provision of books on low rates was a source to attract people towards books and he was happy to see a great rush of people at book fair.
  Other visiters praised Punjab University admin for arranging the event. They said that such activities must be organized continuously in all the universities so that people could purchase maximum books on reduced rates.
Meanwhile, Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran has said that philosophers could play an active role to meet social, national and international challenges.
He was addressing 36th Annual Session of the Pakistan Philosophical Congress (PPC) organized by Punjab University Department of Philosophy at Undergraduate Study Centre’s Al-Raazi Hall.
