LAHORE - A high level meeting to discuss proposals on establishing a secretariat in the South Punjab will be held today (Saturday).

Top officers and politicians will attend the sitting to ponder upon the proposals to set up a secretariat in Multan. Sources said that the Punjab government wanted a separate secretariat in the Southern Punjab to facilitate masses. They said that on administrative grounds there was a dire need of establishing an administrative quarter in the remote areas of the province.

An officer said that the incumbent government wanted to establish a secretariat to ease the people who had to visit provincial headquarters at Lahore for tiny issues.

He said that after the establishment of secretariat at Multan many administrative issues would be resolved close to their door steps.
