In my humble opinion, Pakistan’s involvement into what is perceived as a proxy sectarian war in Yemen between Saudi Arabia and Iran is not in the interest of our country. Pakistan’s interests are obviously best served by maintaining friendly ties with both countries. Besides, the Pak-Army is already fighting on many fronts. A large portion of civil society and intelligentsia in the country have unanimously made it clear that the people of Pakistan do not want to be a part of another war. It is good to note that PM has urged United Nations, OIC and other international forces to play a positive role to resolve this conflict. This may help Pakistan play a neutral role of a facilitator and an honest broker to resolve the conflict without involving directly into it.
