Pakistan achieved success, world failed in war against terrorism: PM Abbasi

Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi today said that the world has failed in its war against terrorism, whereas, Pakistan has won the war.

While addressing the closing ceremony of International Counter-Terrorism Forum in Islamabad, he said, “Pakistan is a leader in the war against terrorism. Tell me the name of another country which sent 20,000 soldiers to fight the terrorists.”

PM Abbasi remarked that the incident of Army Public School had proven as turning point because after the incident the whole nation stood united against eliminating terrorism from the country.

“If you look at the polling stations, the people of Pakistan have always rejected radicalisation,” he added.

He also spoke on the occasion that Government had developed a more organised public opinion for countering terrorism.

On the issue of Afghanistan, PM Abbasi said, “nobody wants peace in Afghanistan more than us.”

Moreover, he remarked that war isn't a permanent solution for Afghan crisis, saying, “War will not deliver peace in Afghanistan. Peace will only come through dialogue."

The premier negated the claims of terrorist sanctuaries operating in Pakistan. “We do not believe that there are terrorist sanctuaries in Pakistan. On the other hand, there are terrorist sanctuaries in Afghanistan, which are being used to target Pakistan,” PM Abbasi shared his views and rejected the claims of providing safe asylum to terrorists  

While speaking about the humanitarian crisis in Indian held Kashmir he said that this issue will only be resolved through the implementation of UN Security Council resolution.

“The international community should accept what is going in Kashmir, atrocities are being committed, human rights are being violated. People of all ages are being targeted,” he further spoke at the Forum.

“We are firm in our resolve to ensure country's economic progress,” he added.
