ISLAMABAD Taking serious notice of the US Defence Secretarys statement, National Security Committee of the Parliament firmly said that Pakistan would not tolerate any hot pursuit inside its territory at any cost. When National Security Committee of the Parliament met here under the Chair of Senator Mian Raza Rabbani, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi gave a detailed briefing on the implementation of 31 recommendations of the Committee pertaining to Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Minister also briefed the Committee about the US Defence Secretary Robert Gates statement regarding Pakistan and the steps being taken by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to tackle it at an appropriate level. After getting the briefing from the Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, the Committee asked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to file the written reply on the status of implementation of Committees recommendations pertaining to the Ministry within two days. The Committee also asked the Foreign Minister to present a complete transcript of Gates statement. When he presented the said transcript of Gates statement, there was no evidence regarding direct attack on Pakistan. He said that Pakistan was a sovereign state and such kind of statement was only to challenge its sovereignty and security. We can not comprise on our national security, sovereignty and national pride, he added. The Parliamentary Committee on National Securitys next meeting will be held on 9th and 10th August in which recommendation of the civil society will be reviewed in length. On Wednesdays meeting, besides Raza Rabbani, Sherry Rehman, Professor Ibrahim, Senator Shahid, Senator Afrar, Abdul Rahim Mando Khel, Maulana Fazlur Rehman and Ishaq Dar were present.
