LAHORE - Lahore High Court Chief Justice Khawaja Muh-ammad Sharif Wednesday showed annoyance over failure of Pakistan Railways to submit reply on a petition against closure of six trains. The CJ directed railway authorities to submit its reply on till August 5 (Thursday) explaining why six trains were closed ignoring difficulties of passengers due to trains shortage. The court issued the directions on a petition filed by Vice President Railway workers Union Rana Shaukat Ali in which he submitted that Railway had decided to close six trains including Mehran Express, Sialkot Express, Sakhi Abbas Passenger, Taiz Rao, Chiltan Express and Shalimar Express against the interests of passengers. He submitted that it was duty of Pakistan Railway to provide travel facilities to masses but department snatched important facility from already deprived people. He submitted that as a result of this decision many employees would also become jobless. He prayed the court to set aside the decision. On last hearing, the court directed Chairman and General Manager, Pakistan Railway to submit reply in the matter till August 4.
