N meeting likely to discuss Sabir-Safdar differences today

PESHAWAR – Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Chief Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif is likely to preside over a meeting today (Sunday) in Lahore to resolve differences between PML-N, KPK, President Pir Sabir Shah, and PML-N, Youth Wing, Chief Capt (Retd) Safdar.
Sources within the PML-N told TheNation that Capt (Retd) Safdar has formally submitted his reply in response to the show cause notice issued to him by the party central General Secretary Iqbal Zafar Jhagra a week ago. Safdar, also son-in-law of Mian Nawaz Sharif, has also presented video of the Mansehra public gathering with his written reply, in which he has reportedly denied using unparliamentary language against Pir Sabir Shah and Sardar Mehtab.
He said it was the participants who called them Mir Jaffar and Mir Sadiq.
PML-N General Secretary Iqbal Zafar Jagrah upon the directives of the party chief had suspended membership of Safdar and asked him to explain his position as to why he declared Pir Sabir Shah and Mehtab Abbasi as traitors during a public meeting in Mansehra district.
The sources informed that in the same reply, Capt (Retd) Safdar has also made his position clear that he had also not asked the party’s leadership to appoint PML-N Central Senior Vice President Amir Muqam as provincial president but they were the participants of the meeting, who raised slogans against Pir Sabir Shah and Mehtab Khan and asked the appointment of Amir Muqam as PML-N provincial president.
They were of the view that differences between Pr Sabir Shah and Safdar would be resolved during the meeting in Lahore, as both the sides wanted to overcome it amicably as it was crystal clear to them that it this matter was prolonged would certainly affected party position in the province.
Certainly it was time to get united as general elections ahead, any differences at this stage could not be afforded, the sources said adding that they were sure the tussle between the party’s and youth wing presidents would be resolved. It is worth mentioning here that PML-N sitting Provincial President Pir Sabir Shah and former president Mehtab Abbassi had threatened to quit the party if Safdar was not stopped from interfering in the party’s affairs.
Sensing the situation, upon the directives of the party chief, membership of Mr Safdar was suspended and asked him to clarify his position.
The sources said that this matter would be resolved during a meeting, which is likely to take place today (Sunday) in Lahore under the president ship of Mina Nawaz Sharif, the sources concluded.
