LAHORE - Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said that the PML-N government would spare no effort to resolve the issues being faced by Pakistan and put the country on the road to progress and prosperity. He said the country’s economy has improved due to excellent policies of the government and investment of billions of rupees is reaching while its foreign exchange reserves have also increased. In such a situation, there is no justification for the politics of protest and anarchy, he added. He said that Pakistan has embarked on the journey to development and prosperity, and no revolutionary or long march could hamper this process. He said that conspiracies of the enemies of progress and development would never succeed and the masses would bury forever the politics of damaging national unity and solidarity.
Addressing the party legislators, office-bearers and workers in Islamabad on Monday, the CM said that the former rulers of Punjab set records of loot, corruption and nepotism in the name of development schemes, and no uplift project was completed during their tenure. He said the PML-N government turned these graveyards of corruption into monuments of development. He said that a corruption-free culture has been promoted in the province during last six years and mega development projects have been executed in a highly transparent manner.
Shahbaz said that no corruption scandal surfaced during the present government’s tenure and even its opponents could not accuse the present leadership of corruption of a single penny. He said that living standard of the masses has improved due to development programmes and welfare schemes of the Punjab government. He said that investment of billions of dollars is coming into the country due to investment-friendly policies of the government.
The CM said that promotion of investment in the country is essential for elimination of poverty and unemployment, while political stability is must for investment. He said that it is lamentable that some elements have no interest in the national development or prosperity of the masses and wanted to destabilise the country to discourage foreign investors. However, he said, the people of Pakistan would reject these elements and pay no heed to their calls for protest. He said that situation prevailing in the country didn’t allow any long march or politics of anarchy and it is time to raise the morale of officers and jawans of the armed forces who are fighting against terrorists to ensure a safe and secure future for the next generation.
Shahbaz said that it is not the time for negative politics or confrontation but to help displaced brethren and sisters of North Waziristan. He said that it is the need of the hour that the whole nation should unite and every member of the society should play his role for bringing the country out of problems.
