RAWALPINDI: Two retired army generals and a civilian officer of the National Logistics Cell were today sentenced by an army court for violating NLC rules and regulations.

Maj Gen (retd) Khalid Zahir Akhter and Lt Gen (retd) Muhammad Afzal Muzaffar were awarded punishments under the Pakistan Army Act for causing a loss of PKR 1.8 billion.

According to military’s media wing (ISPR), illegal investments by the officers caused financial losses to the organization. Previously, COAS General Raheel Sharif instructed high-ranking officers to expedite proceedings of the case.

The decision was taken as a measure to maintain highest standards of accountability.
