A couple and their daughter were killed while another daughter sustained injuries when roof of a house collapsed here on Tuesday.
The incident occurred when roof of one of the rooms of a house in Mohallah Garha caved in due to continued monsoon rains.
Sarfraz Ahmad, 45, his wife Nargis, 35, and five-year-old daughter Roohama Akhtar died under the debris. Another daughter 13-year-old Sehr Akhtar sustained injuries. Rescue 1122 staff rushed to the spot and pulled out the dead bodies and the injured from the debris.
Chiniot DCO Shaukat Ali Khichi also reached the scene and supervised the rescue operations. He assured the heirs that he would send a request to the Punjab government to the bereaved family.
The residents have demanded a complete survey of the area as Mohallah Garha is dominated by old and dilapidated houses which were constructed before creation of Pakistan.
They also demanded demolition of the old and dangerous houses in the vicinity.
