Veteran politician Makhdoom Javed Hashmi has demanded the government to take more steps for the rescue and rehabilitation of flood affectees in South Punjab.
Talking to local leader of PML-N Hamza Shahid Lodhi here at his residence on Tuesday, he added that the efforts of Punjab Government for the rescue of flood affectees were laudable but still a lot more had to be done. Hashmi appreciated the efforts being made by Child Protection Bureau Multan for the welfare of runaway and orphan kids as well as flood victims. “Other youngsters should follow in the footsteps of Hamza Shahid Lodhi and play their role for the rescue and rehabilitation of flood victims,” he added.
Referring to local government elections, he said that the workers who rendered sacrifices for their parties should be given preference while granting tickets. He said that irrespective of political affiliations, the workers were a precious asset of every party and all parties should recognize the status and importance of workers.
Earlier, talking to former provincial minister Haji Ehsan Uddin Qureshi, Hashmi said that the time had proved that his decision was right. “I had resigned from the assembly and stood firm on this decision and acted as per law,” he added. He said that Mian Nawaz Sharif was very kind and therefore he did not let the parliament de-seat the members of PTI otherwise all PTI members had lost their membership of parliament. “They should be thankful to Mian Nawaz Sharif and they should contact any Mufti to get a decree whether the salaries they will draw now will be halal,” he maintained.
He said that the balloon of PTI had deflated and its members were highly worried. He claimed that if the PTI was sent back to the masses, it would fail to retain even half of the seats it currently held in the assemblies. He said that he had offers from different parties and he would soon join a big party on the demands of residents of his constituency.
MPA Haji Ehsan Uddin said on this occasion that Makhdoom Javed Hashmi’s sacrifices for the democracy would be remembered forever. He added that Hashmi was the only one in PTI who roared like a lion and refused to back out of his commitment. “He resigned from the assembly and returned to the masses,” he added.
