Rawalpindi - Sohna Punjab Festival 2015 was kicked off here at Nawaz Sharif Park on Tuesday to provide recreational facilities to citizens and promotion of cultural values.
The festival was inaugurated by Punjab Parliamentary Secretary for Information and Culture Rana Muhammad Arshad. PML-N Senator Begum Najma Hamid, MNAs Malik Abrar Ahmed, Tahira Aurangzeb and Najma Hameed, MPAs Malik Iftikhar Ahmed, Lubna Rehan, Tehsin Fawad, Zaibun Nisa Awan, and Tariq Mehmood Bajwa and other local leaders were present on the occasion.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony, Rana Muhammad Arshad said that Sohna Punjab Festival 2015 will be held at all the divisional headquarters of Punjab to provide entertainment and promotion of cultural values.
He said that the event has been arranged in connection with the Independence Day celebrations of Pakistan and “Sohna Punjab Festival” would continue up to August 30, 2015.
He announced that the federal or provincial governments and any other government functionary had not released any fund for the event and all expenditures would be catered by media entertainment management with spirit to promote the cultural heritage of Punjab as well as other provinces.
Arshad revealed that no entry fee or parking charging would be received at the venue of Public Park (Nawaz Sharif Park) and the prime objective of the event was to introduce the handicraft and artistic work of craftsmen and artists, besides encouraging entertainments activities.
During the festival, horse and cultural shows were presented and stalls of food and handicrafts have been established.
