Polio is a fatal crippling disease which is endemic in three countries of now Pakistan, Afghanistan and Nigeria. Two countries, Afghanistan and Nigeria have decreased number of positive cases for last two years and truly speaking their health professionals or health departments are serious in this context. Surprisingly, in 2014 the number of cases in Pakistan increased up to such an extent that entire world was perplexed.
I remained part of the World Health Organization (WHO) on district level position, for around one year in Polio Eradication Program. During my stay with the team I recognised that everyone was deeply involved to save the children of Pakistan. I appreciate them for doing an excellent job in eradicating this crippling disease. I wonder why I have never seen this kind of spirit in any of our local doctors.
