Karachi: Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram’s car was fired upon in Karachi's Karsaz area today, the former cricketer told journalists.
The fast-bowler however remained safe in the attack. Confirming the incident, Wasim said that he was on his way to the National Stadium to attend a bowling camp, when a vehicle rammed into his car from behind.
He said that some guards and the owner of the other vehicle came out and shot at Wasim, barely missing him. The bullet hit my car's tires but I remained safe, said Wasim.
Speaking to media, Wasim said that he was not facing any particular threats. He said that he had noted the registration number of the other vehicle and given it to the police.
He added that the other car appeared to be government vehicle. Deputy Inspector-General (DIG) East Munir Sheikh said that police was trying to retrieve CCTV footage of the incident, to identify the attackers.
