SRINAGAR (AFP) Unidentified gunmen shot and wounded a senior Kashmiri leader in Kashmir, police said Friday. Fazal Haque Qureshi, a senior leader in the moderate faction of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, was hit near his residence in Srinagar, a police officer said. He has got a head injury and he is being treated in a hospital, the officer said, asking not to be named. He said Qureshis condition was serious. Qureshi has been associated with the separatist struggle in Kashmir for more than two decades. In 2000 he arranged a ceasefire between the regions main rebel group Hizbul Mujahedin and Indian troops. The ceasefire lasted for a fortnight after India refused to involve Pakistan in talks to resolve the dispute over Kashmir.
