India seizes vessel with Pakistanis

NEW DELHI (PPI) - In a joint operation Friday, the Indian Navy and the Coast Guards intercepted a vessel which was anchored off the coast of Lakshadweep Island and detained 17 foreigners on board, including Pakistani nationals, for questioning. The Indian media while quoting official sources reported there were some Iranian citizens also on board the vessel who were being held at a Coast Guard facility in Kavaratty Island. At around 2.00 pm on Friday, INS Rajput was on anti-piracy combing operations in the Eastern Arabian Sea and it apprehended a suspicious dhow in the Exclusive Economic Zone west off Bitra Island in the Lakshadweep Islands, a Navy spokesperson said Saturday.
