LAHORE - Pakistan Industrial and Traders Association Front (PIAF) has appealed to the trade and industrial associations to observe a complete strike on December 06 against discrimination in gas supply to Punjab industry and Reformed General Sales Tax (RGST). In a statement issued here Saturday, PIAF Chairman Irfan Qaiser Sheikh, Vice Chairmen Iqbal Baig Chughtai, Shahzeb Akram and LCCI former President Mian Anjum Nisar said that both the gas load shedding and the RGST had not only pushed the industry to the wall but had also put millions of jobs of industrial workers at stake. It has become difficult for the industry to continue the production process and their goods are fast becoming uncompetitive even in Pakistan. They said that other provinces are getting continuous supply of gas while the industry in Punjab is facing acutre shortage. Staff Reporter They said that the trade and industry leaders and workers never wanted to take the streets but some forces were compelling them to take extreme steps. They hoped that all the industrial areas will remain closed on December 06. It is pertinent to mention here that the Lahore Township Industries Association, Ferozepur Road Industrial Association, Katar Band Industrial Association, Kahna Kacha Link Road Industrial Association, Shahdara Industrial Association, All Pakistan Textile Dying & Printing Association, Hosiery Manufacturers Association, Punjab Bread Manufacturers Association and many others have announced to to participate in the strike.
