KARACHI - The council of the Pakistan Tennis Federation will meet in Islamabad first time after recent elections to elect various officer bearers for new term, it was learnt here Saturday. Newly-elected President PTF Kaleem Imam, who ousted Dilawar Abbas from the post, will preside over the meeting. The council will elect new vice presidents and other office bearers. Kaleem Imam, who is also IG police Islamabad, had promised to improve the tennis. He is expected to rally around the PTF new faces and individuals who, in the past, had contributed in the development of the sport. Shahida Farooq, who as chairperson of the Subah-e-Nau - an NGO - has earned special place for organising a number of top events particularly for ladies may be asked to join hands with the PTF to promote ladies tennis. It may be mentioned Shahida Farooq had zealously pleaded the cause of ladies tennis in the country. She some time ago had argued in favour of sending Pakistan team to the Federation Cup which is Davis Cup for the ladies team.
