LAHORE – After the imposed ban on the usage of funds on lavish dinners from the public exchequer, King Edward Medical University has decided to generate a fund of Rs 1.5 million for scientific symposium, gala dinner and musical night by collecting money from academic staff, post graduate trainees, medical officers and house officers. KEMU is organising its 32nd annual symposium from Dec 19-22.

The KEMU admin is charging Rs2500 from Professors, Rs 2000 from Associate Professors, Rs 1500 from Assistant Professors and Senior Registrars, Rs 800 from PG trainees and MOs and Rs 500 from HOs. PG trainees, MOs and HOs will not be accommodated in the dinner however, they can attend the annual dinner by paying additional Rs 800.

OUTGOING DOCS: Sixty senior doctors working in BPS-20, including three medical superintendents of teaching hospitals in Lahore, will retire the next year.

According to a a notification, Dr Atia Mubarik, Dr Afzal Shaheen, Dr Muhammad Hassan, Dr Ijaz Ahmed Sheikh, Dr Azeem Khawaja, Dr Fazalur Rehman, Dr Nisae Ahmed Cheema, Dr Samina Jehangir, Dr Shahid Khawaja and Dr Tehseen Sahi are among the outgoing doctors.
