LAHORE – Punjab Bar Council on Tuesday announced a partial strike today (Wednesday) to protest against the attack their colleague Advocate Masood Abid Naqvi by unidentified persons near the Lahore High Court.

The lawyer was targeted at Fareed Court House when some unidentified persons fired bullets leaving him injured. He was shifted to Mayo Hospital where he was reported out of danger.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, PBC vice chairman Ghulam Abbas Nassoana strongly condemned the attack on Naqvi and said that the government had failed to protect the legal fraternity. The vice chairman said that the lawyers were constantly being targeted across the country and the silence of the government was regrettable.He appealed to the lawyers to observe a partial boycott of court’s proceedings in the province on Wednesday (today).

As per the statement, the lawyers would not appear before the courts after 11am. He warned of the government to immediately arrest the attackers otherwise the lawyers shall prolong the strike.
