SBBU making steady progress: Governor


PESHAWAR – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Masood Kausar while appreciating the working of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University at Sheringal, said that despite many hardships the institution is steadily making progress to a great extent.
Presiding over the 3rd meeting of the Senate of the University at Governor’s House here on Tuesday, the Governor stressed that continued efforts are also required to maintain the tempo of achievements too. “This institution carries special features on many courts,” he remarked.
Provincial Secretary Higher Education, Farah Hamed Khan, Secretary to Governor Abid Majeed, special secretaries of the Provincial Establishment and Finance Departments, Abdul Laltif and Masood Ahmad respectively attended the meeting.
On the occasion, Vice Chancellor of the SBB University, Prof. Dr. Jehandar Shah briefed the senate about the salient features of the agenda.
The senate also approved the budgetary estimates for the year 2012-13 and actual budgetary expenditures for the year, 2011-12 and acknowledged its working with an appreciation note.
Prof. Dr. Jehandar Shah, meanwhile, briefing the senate about the achievements of the institution, said that research and education with equal focus on promotion of co-curricular activities including ten popular games are the focal points of their academic pursuits at all the four campuses of the institution which besides the main campus at Sheringal, includes Upper Dir, Chitral and Booni in Upper Chitral wherein Forestry and Wildlife with special focus on research on medicinal plants and trout fish are the unique feature of the working of this institution.
