KARACHI – Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) and Turkish Coast Guard on Tuesday discussed matters related with joint training, maritime security in Indian Ocean and concept of collaborative security against piracy.

Turkish Coast Guard delegation comprising of 5 officers was visiting Pakistan from December 4 to 7.

Rear Admiral (UH) Hasan Usaklioglu was heading the delegation. During their stay in Pakistan, Delegation visited HQ Maritime Security Agency to discuss matters of mutual interests and enhancement of bilateral relations between the tow law enforcement agencies.

The delegation was briefed about the role and functions Pakistan Maritime Security Agency.

Both agencies discussed maters and issues related with joint training, maritime security in Indian Ocean and concept of collaborative security against piracy. Additionally, topics of anti drug trafficking and human smuggling also came under discussion during interactive sessions.

During the meeting, both agencies agreed to conduct joint workshops on topics of maritime security.

Enhanced cooperation has been witnessed between PMSA and Turkish Coast Guard during this year and in this connection, a high level delegation of PMSA, headed by Commodore Aziz Mumtaz (SBt), visited Turkish Coast Guard in June 2012.
