ISLAMABAD - A contempt of court petition against the counsel of accused allegedly involved in Mumbai attack was moved in special Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Islamabad on Wednesday.
Talking to the journalists, special prosecutor of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Chaudhary Azhar informed that in the contempt of court petition, the judge of ATC had summoned Rizwan Abbasi, counsel of accused of Mumbai attack case, to appear before the court on December 11.
He told that the contempt of court petition was moved alleging that Abbasi held press conference and informed the media about the proceedings of the case despite the fact that court had restrained him to do so.
The FIA prosecutor said that the court had barred him from providing information pertaining to the Mumbai attack case but Rizwan held press conference by violating court directions which affected the hearing of the case. Therefore, Azhar said that they had filed a petition requesting the court to initiate contempt of court proceedings against Abbasi.
