LAHORE - Veteran Indian movie star Naseeruddin Shah said that Pakistan and India have similarities in culture and language; therefore both counties should work for better ties.
Speaking to students at Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) on Wednesday, the noted actor cum director said that every individual has to play his part for eliminating fog of misconceptions between the two countries. He wished to travel around Pakistan but unfortunately limited time deterred him to do so. He said He said that he always enjoy the love and hospitality of Lahore. LCWU Vice Chancellor Dr Sabiha Mansoor and head of BB Chair Muneeza Hashmi welcomed the legend actor at the varsity. They also told the guest that LCWU students were being provided a lot of opportunities to express their potential in art and culture. Students from Kinnaird College and Beaconhouse National University also joined in discussion with Shah. Talking on the occasion Naseeruddin Shah termed acting as the comprehensive medium of expression. Replying the queries of students he told that theatre was more difficult for an actor compared to cinema as theaters does not offer retakes. Shah expressed his views on the difference between theatre and film and the way he felt about Faiz. He also mentioned delicious food of Lahore and hospitality of Lahorites. On a question Shah said that he enjoyed theater never found it difficult. “The kind of enthusiasm and team spirit one enjoys doing theatre is not experienced in a film,” he added.
The veteran actor recited Ghalib’s poetry on the desire of students. Moneeza Hashmi said hopefully Shah would come to Lahore next year to for stage performances and dedicate a night for reciting poetry of Ghalib, Iqbal and Faiz.
