Pakistan has been blessed with many resources and among them is our beautiful landscape, we have beaches in Karachi, mountain areas in the North West such as Hunza and Swat valleys but our tourism industry is facing severe crisis, the major reason being terrorism. Pakistan has been a victim of terrorism since 9/11 when Pakistan agreed to join the US in the war on terror, the incidence of terrorism in the country increased substantially. Tourists do not feel safe coming to Pakistan anymore. There have been incidents when tourists were targeted by the terrorists.

The diverse culture, traditions, historical places, beautiful valleys are all pearls that can make Pakistan an attractive tourist spot. There are historical places such as Mohenjo-Daro, Harappa, Taxilla, which attract archeologists from all over the globe. Other than that the valleys of Pakistan have been able to attract tourists for a long time. There are valleys such as Swat, Hunza, Naran, Kaghan and beautiful hills like Murree, Nathia Gali, Changa Gali etc.

Lahore is remembered by historians for its monuments of various Mughal emperors and Mughal architecture such as the Badshahi Mosque, the tomb of Jahangir, Lahore Fort, and Shalimar Gardens. The beautiful valleys of Naran, Kaghan, and Swat were totally destroyed after the 2005 earthquake and terrorism. The people should join the government in efforts to crush terrorism. We all hope that government will improve the law and order situation soon.

It is time Pakistan does something to revive its tourism industry which has been marred by terrorism and natural disasters, once the country is able to put a stop to terrorism, the tourism industry would again flourish.
