ISLAMABAD:  Another colossal scandal of Rs 47 million in Pakistan Railways (PR) has been unearthed in a detailed report.

According to report sent to Parliamentary committee, it has been directed to take action against corrupt officials who committed huge corruption in PR. Report alleged that concerned railways officers purchased machinery worth of Rs 5 million and caused great loss to national kitty.

According to report, some corrupt officers of the department in the name of commercial activities and stalls on the different railways station of Multan Division plundered three million of rupees.

Report added that sleepers of Khanewal factory caused great loss to national exchequer purchasing substandard goods worth of 62 million of rupees.

"Some corrupt officers of Rawalpindi Railways station rented out 425 shops on the old agreement and sold out diesel which caused great loss of 1.74 miillion of rupees to national kitty, report revealed”.

Report revealed that PR has borne great loss worth of Rs 1.5 million owing to operational shuttle train between Kachlaq Quetta from Sohrab.

According to another report PR has faced loss worth of five million annually due to not renewing agreement inked with Coca Cola about eight years ago in 2008 for setting up the stalls in Sakhar Region.

According to report company who ply business train has refused to give 47 million of rupees. Report added that trains had been operational from Lahore to Karachi.
