Acting Punjab governor says culprits should be given exemplary punishment as early as possible

LAHORE - Expressing his regret over the lynching of a Sri Lankan national in a Sialkot factory, acting Punjab Governor Ch Parvez Elahi said that the incident was un-Islamic and inhumane. “We extend our heartfelt condolences to the Government of Sri Lanka and the family of the victim. The inquiry into the incident should be completed and the culprits should be punished as soon as possible.”

The acting Punjab governor expressed these remarks during a meeting with Wafaqul Madaris Al-Arabia Secretary General Qari Hanif Jalandhari who called on him at his residence here on Saturday. Punjab Minister for Minerals Hafiz Ammar Yasir, Rasikh Elahi, Dr AR Khalid and Dr Rashid Siraj were also present on the occasion. Ch Parvez Elahi gave Qari Hanif Jalandhari a frame of Quranic verse and hadith prepared regarding Khatam-e-Nubuwwat which will be prominently displayed in all government offices. Qari Hanif Jalandhari presented to Ch Parvez Elahi a translation of the Holy Quran which was unanimously approved by the scholars of all schools of thought in Pakistan. He said: “This is the second major achievement after Qarardad-e-Maqasid. The same translation of Holy Quran will be teaching in schools through Punjab Text Book Board.”

COMMITTEE FORMED TO 

PROBE DEATH OF WOMAN

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has constituted a four-member committee to probe the death of a woman and injuries to minor due to falling of electric transformer.

According to official sources, the Lahore Electric Power Supply Company (LESCO) has sought detailed report of the incident. The higher officials of the LESCO are busy veiling the negligence of officers concerned and responsible of this negligence XEN Mustafa Mir Baloch.

The LESCO officials have immediately suspended SDO Achara Suhail and Line Superintendent and constituted an inquiry committee to probe the matter.

“Mir Mustafa Baloch, XEN, who is the main accused has been head of the Monitoring and Surveillance department of LESCO and conducted many inquiries of officials involved in corruption cases and gave them undue favor and now these corrupt officers are attempting their best to defend him in transformer case,” sources disclosed.
