PESHAWAR (AFP) - Security forces said Thursday an air and ground offensive had killed 12 militants in Bajaur. The paramilitary Frontier Corps (FC) stepped up an offensive targeting Taliban havens in Bajaur district after a suicide bombing killed 17 people at a military checkpoint on Saturday. During the ongoing operation, 12 terrorists were killed.... Security forces are advancing and consolidating their positions successfully in Sewai, Damadola and Pasht areas, the FC said. The military claims to have captured strategic high ground where the militants had attacked from bunkers and set up a training centre. Pakistan first launched operations in the district in August 2008.
