Country can't be run by disobeying courts: Nawaz

BAHAWALPUR The PML-N will never roll back the Kashmir policy as it fully supports the Kashmir cause believing that the issue should be settled according to the wishes of Kashmiri people and the UN resolutions.
This was stated by former prime minister and PML-N Chief Mian Nawaz Sharif here Thursday while talking to media person.
He said the worst kind of democracy was far better than the best kind of dictatorship and we had been trying hard to promote democracy in the country and provide real relief to the masses.
He urged President Asif Ali Zardari to ensure good governance to redress the public grievances.
He underlined the need of availability of justice, urging accountability should be made without any discrimination for the betterment of society and promotion of democratic system.
He criticised the killing of innocent people in northern areas of the country in US drone attacks and asked the government to take serious steps to stop it.
Referring to the recent unrest in Karachi, he remarked had an independent and impartial inquiry been conducted into the May 12, 2007 incident and the culprits taken to task, the situation in Karachi would have been totally different from today.
Nawaz was of the view that he had a mission to serve the nation and the country and he was committed to it, no matter he was in Parliament or outside of it.
He underlined the need to resolve the public problems and national issues on priority basis to save the democratic system from any damage Nawaz came here to attend the party convention. He conducted meetings with the local PML-N leaders and workers and settled their differences.
He said the PML-N was committed to the uplift of Bahawalpur and Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif had been taking keen interest in the development of this area and issued a huge amount for various development schemes in this regard.
Referring to a question about the establishment of the Bahawalpur province, he said it was a democratic right so what could he say.
He avoided comments on the allegations levelled by the former president Sardar Farooq Ahmed Khan Leghari, saying he would not like to say anything as public knew it better and facts could better reveal the truth.
PML-N leaders Saad Rafique, Ch Jaffer Iqbal Gujjar and Sardar Zulfiqar Khosa were also present on the occasion.
Tight security arrangements were made during Nawaz Sharifs visit.
Online adds: Nawaz Sharif while criticising President Zardari said all the commitments made by ruling PPP with his party have still not been fulfilled, adding that the country cant be run by violating the Constitution and court verdicts.
Addressing workers convention in Bahawalpur, he said country cannot be run by breaching the Constitution and non-implementation of Supreme Court verdicts.
The country, he said, is facing multiple challenges. Nawaz urged youngsters to help in bringing revolution in the country, saying that he had no lust for power.
He alleged that former President Pervez Musharraf and PML-Q were conspiring against PML-N. He also called for dictators accountability. Neither 17th Amendment has been abolished so far nor has any commitment made by PPP in Charter of Democracy been fulfilled, he said.
The ruling alliance instead of holding dictator accountable presented him guard of honour, he said. The governments policies are endangering the democracy in the country, he added.
Avoiding implementation on the SC verdict on NRO is deplorable and I am seeing democracy in danger due to this act of government, Nawaz added.
The government, he said, is pursuing policies which were adopted by former president Pervez Musharraf. He said Musharraf was responsible for toppling democratic government in 1999, dividing the nation, murdering Baloch leader Nawab Akbar Bugti, slaughtering dozens of people in Karachi and removing judges.
We would not allow anyone in the future to breach the Constitution, disobey courts and remove judges, he said.
