LAHORE Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Ijaz Butt has refused to resign following demands of his ouster from the National Assembly Standing Committee on Sports. Butt was called before the parliamentary body to answer questions on recent controversial issues such as the Indian Premier Leagues saga and the teams dismal tour of Australia. Why should I resign? Butt asked. These are mere allegations against me. Not a single one is proved against me. He added: Ill quit within five seconds if I am found guilty of doing something wrong. Butt said he had already written to the International Cricket Council on the IPL issue. The disgraceful behaviour of the IPL has already been taken up with ICC because the international cricket body has a window to the IPL in its future cricket programmes, he said. Butt also said it was up to the ICC to take action against Australia following the recent pitch invasion during a one-day international in Perth. We immediately wrote a letter to Cricket Australia and the ICC, Butt said. It is for the ICC to decide on the matter. PCB reminds governing board member of term expiry The Pakistan Cricket Board has reminded some of its governing board members that their term as members of the board has expired. In a statement issued Thursday, Chairman PCB Mohammad Ijaz Butt informed that as per PCB Constitution (S.R.O.No.64 (K.E.)/2007) the term of the elected members of the PCB Governing Board has expired as on November 9, 2009. As per requirement under paragraph 8(2) of the PCB Constitution the names of newly elected members to the Governing Board have already been sent to the Patron PCB for approval. Some outgoing Governing Board members, he said, are attempting to create confusion by spreading false, baseless and malicious news about PCB and its management, he said.
