ISLAMABD - Anne Arren, President of Youth Commission of International Mountaineering and Climbing Federation, Jens Jacob Simonsen, Deputy Head of Mission Danish Embassy, and Samina Baig, Pakistan's first winter woman mountaineer, called on Federal Minister for Sports Mir Aijaz Hussain Jakhrani at his office and discussed the issues relating to the promotion of youth mountaineering in Pakistan. The meeting was also attended by the Secretary Sports Aziz Ahmed Bilour, DG Pakistan Sports Board Syed Amir Hamza Gilani, President and the Secretary of Alpine Club of Pakistan. During the meeting, the Minister appreciated the efforts of Samina Baig and lauded her achievements for the country. He assured the participants of the meeting that the government will extend every possible support for the promotion of mountaineering in Pakistan. Anne informed the Minister that the International Mountaineering and Climbing Federation (UIAA) endeavours to promote mountaineering in South Asia. She said that Pakistan has the facilities for all kinds of climbing but the speciality of Pakistan is that it is blessed with high mountains, which make it a heaven for the climbers from over the world.
