LAHORE – The nation is all set to celebrate the Eid Miladun Nabi on the 12th of Rabi-ul-Awwal today (Sunday) to mark the birthday of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) with religious fervour and enthusiasm throughout the country.
In Lahore, the celebrations will start with a 21-gun salute, while special prayers will be held after Fajr prayers for the prosperity of the country. Radio and TV channels will air special programmes on the occasion, while the newspapers have brought out special editions to mark the day.
All the public and private buildings, commercial centres, bazaars and streets have been illuminated and decorated with buntings and banners as well as welcome slogans to mark the religious festival.
The traditional procession of Eid Miladun Nabi will start amid the tight security from the City Railway Station and culminate at the Data Darbar. The procession will pass through the Australia Chowk, Circular Road, Railway Road, Gawalmandi, Mayo Hospital, Shah Alam Chowk, Bansawala Bazaar and Anarkali.
According to Central Committee of Jashn-e-Eid Miladun Nabi, more than fifty processions from different routes will merge into the main rally.
All adjacent roads on the route of the procession have also been decorated with colourful flags, placards and banners.
Special religious meetings and conferences will be held at mosques and public places to pay homage to the Holy Prophet (PBUH), while programmes are also scheduled for nearly every neighbourhood of the city.
