ISLAMABAD: The nation observed day of Solidarity with Kashmiris to highlight their cause and the need for resolution of the longstanding dispute as per wishes of Kashmiri people. Today is a public holiday and one minute silence was observed at 10.00 am to honour Kashmiri martyrs, Radio Pakistan reported.

Human Chains at Kohala Bridge, Mangla Bridge and other points linking Pakistan and Azad Kashmir was formed. Rallies, public meetings, functions and seminars were held in the length and breadth of the country and Azad Kashmir to draw attention of the world community towards the plight of Kashmiris. Radio Pakistan and Pakistan Television have arranged daylong programmes featuring different dimensions of the Kashmir issue.

The Day aims to highlight plight of people in Occupied Kashmir, draw world's attention to its obligation to UN sponsored plebiscite.
