A youth delegation from Khyber Pakhtunkhawah praised the unique export culture of Sialkot and development on self-help basis by the exporters.

They were addressing a meeting during their visit to Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI). The male and female delegates said that the Sialkot exporters had been playing a pivotal role in strengthening the national economy by earning the foreign exchange.

Presiding over the meeting, SCCI Vice President Syed Ehtesham Gillani gave a detailed briefing on the export culture. He said that the exporters had always remained in the quest of the best. They utilised their energies with full devotion, dedication, determination, enthusiasm with complete peace of mind for enhancing exports. He added that the Sialkot exporters had a great potential to explore and capture the international trade markets by exporting their diversified traditional and non-traditional export products. He said that the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) had recently established Sialkot exporters’ own private airline namely Air SIAL on self help basis for providing the world class aviation facilities to Sialkot exporters on cheaper rates.

He said that earlier, they had established Sialkot International Airport which is running successfully besides opening the new vistas of socio-economic development in Pakistan’s first ever “Golden Export Triangle” comprising Sialkot, Gujrat and Gujranwala districts. He said that the Sialkot exporters had set a unique example of self help in the world by establishing several mega projects including Sialkot Dry Port Trust, Export Processing Zone (EPZ), Tanneries Zone, Business and Commerce Centre, Sports Industry Development Centre and Engineering and Technical University.

He told the visiting youth that the exporters of Sialkot are the “Roaming Ambassadors of Pakistan”, who travel all around the world to fetch business and with their personal efforts. He said that the exporters had been earning precious foreign exchange to the tune of US $ 2 billion annual, besides, playing a pivotal role in strengthening the national economy.

He said that export-oriented city has successfully followed the examples of Japan, Germany, Korea, Taiwan and other countries in development of SME culture in Sialkot, as the Sialkot based SMEs have been producing only exportable items and enjoy special status in the international market for its products.

Gillani said that these entrepreneurs were exporting the highest quality products globally by focusing on the utilisation of full energies.

The products standards are meant for markets of developed economies not affordable for domestic markets. It is unique for Sialkot that everything produced here is exported. The best cricket and hockey players of the world prefer to use Pakistan made cricket bats and hockey sticks. Most of the developed countries are importing surgical instruments from Pakistan for the re-export purposes under their own brand name. In leather products, textiles and sports wears, Sialkot competes with other garments, he added.
