Taylor Swift is steaming up with tech company Glu Mobile, responsible for Kim Kardashian’s ‘Hollywood’ game, to develop it.

Taylor Swift has clambered aboard the latest tech / celebrity crossover craze with the announcement that she’s developing her own mobile app game. She’s developing the app in partnership with Glu Mobile, the team responsible for Kim Kardashian’s ‘Hollywood’ game.

San Francisco-based tech company Glu has developed highly lucrative mobile app games for Kardashian and Swift’s own pop rival Katy Perry in the recent past. In its first three months, Kardashian’s game generated an astonishing $43 million in revenue, according to Variety.

No further details have yet been announced except an anticipated release date of autumn 2016, but fans of the aforementioned games can expect a distinctive cartoonish style and the ‘freemium’ model – i.e. free to play, but advancement is much quicker with in-app purchases with real-world money.

“We realize that Taylor and her global fan base expect a new and highly differentiated mobile gaming experience,” Glu CEO Niccolo de Masi said while announcing the deal on Wednesday (February 3rd). “Glu is equally committed to designing never before seen gameplay elements that utilize Taylor’s unique creativity. Accordingly, we will spend the required development time to ensure this innovation is achieved.”

Swift, a multi-million selling artist and seven-time Grammy Award winner, has an absolutely enormous following on social media, meaning she should have little difficulty in securing a similarly lucrative income stream when the app goes online.

Currently, she has 74 million fans on Facebook, 70.4 million Twitter followers, and 64.8 million on Instagram. Perhaps if she takes another leaf out of Kardashian’s book, there’ll be a Taylor Swift emoji set later this year too…

As for her music, Swift is currently enjoying a break after a 13-month promotional cycle for her most recent album 1989, with the massive world tour winding up in Australia in December. Despite being released in 2014, it was one of only seven albums to sell a million records in physical sales in the US in 2015.
