SIALKOT - District police suspended Sialkot DSP (City) Irfan Butt for police's slackness and failure in controlling kite flying which resulted in the demise of a youth Saturday evening.

An industrial worker Ahsan was killed as a stray kite string cut his throat while he was travelling on a motorcycle in Sialkot city's Naikapura-Circular Road locality, while his other colleague Boota had sustained serious injuries. He is still in critical condition at Govt Allama Iqbal Memorial Teaching Hospital Sialkot.

Naikapura police registered a case against unknown kite-flyers with no arrest. According to police officials, the was on leave on Saturday when the nasty incident occurred.

The additional charge of the DSP has been given to DSP (CIA) Sialkot Rana Nadeem Tariq.

Sialkot District Police Officer (DPO) Asad Sarfraz Khan also suspended Mirza Zaman, SHO Naikapura police station, while taking a serious note of brutal killing of the youth.

The DPO told the newsmen that the police had registered 42 separate cases against the accused for kite-flying in various parts of Sialkot city during the last week.

On the other hand, inquiry officer Additional SP Sialkot Sahira Bano has started a probe into the matter. He recorded the statements of the suspended SHO and suspended DSP in this regard.
