Rallies to highlight Kashmir

LAHORE - Kashmir Solidarity Day will be observed across the country on Monday (today) to show solidarity with Kashmiri people who are struggling for freedom from India.

Although the day is marked every year on February 5 all over the world, people in Pakistan observe it with commitment and zeal.

A message to the world will be given that Kashmir is jugular vein of Pakistan and people of the country have great affiliation with their Kashmir brothers and sisters who have been struggling for their right to self-determination under UN resolutions for more than six decades.

A public holiday has been announced in Pakistan, including Azad Kashmir.

A one-minute silence will be observed at 10:00 am to honour the Kashmiri martyrs.

Human chains at Kohala Bridge, Mangla Bridge and other points linking Pakistan and Azad Kashmir will be formed.

Rallies, public meetings, functions and seminars will be held in the length and breadth of the country and Azad Kashmir to draw attention of the world to the plight of Kashmiris.

Special cultural programmes and festivals will also be held to promote Kashmiri culture and traditions while photographic exhibitions will be arranged depicting the atrocities committed by Indian occupation forces against the Kashmiris.

In Lahore, the political and religious parties, including the PML-N, PTI, PPP, PML, Jamaat-e-Islami, Pakistan Awami Tehreek, Difa-e-Pakistan Council and others, will organise seminars and walks to show solidarity with the people of Kashmir. Nazaria-i-Pakistan Trust, Kashmir Youth Force, NGOs, rights groups and educational institutions will also arrange different programmes and walks to highlight the Kashmir cause.

Difa-e-Pakistan Council (DPC) would hold Kashmir Caravan, public gatherings, rallies and conferences in every nook and corner of the country. A major programme will be held on The Mall. The religio-political and Kashmiri leadership will address meetings across the country. Arrangements were made at large scale for such events.

A special documentary and songs have been made in praise of the freedom movement of Kashmir. The Jammu Kashmir Movement arranged consultative meetings in different areas of Lahore on Sunday. Local religio-political parties and Kashmiri leaders, lawyers, traders and student leaders participated in these meetings. Meetings were held at Moon Market in Gulshan-e-Ravi, Faisal Town, Baghbanpura, Edgerton Road, Samanabad and Moon Market in Dubai Chowk. Speakers decided to launch a massive campaign against the Indian state terrorism in Kashmir.
