2 political activists among 6 killed

KARACHI - Two political activists among six persons were killed here on Monday. As per details, a cleric affiliated with Jamat-e-Ahle Sunnat was gunned down within the limits of Shah Latif police station. Police said Syed Ameer Hussain Shirazi, 55, resident of Gulshan-e-Askari, was on his way to mosque located near his home when some armed man on a motorbike targeted him and managed to flee. He was taken to the hospital where doctors pronounced him dead and handed over the body to the family. The deceased was hailed from Punjab while the case of the murder was yet to be registered till this report was filed. Following the incident, panic gripped the locality while the police maintained the law and order situation. In another incident of target killing, worker of Muhajir Qaumi Movement Haqqiqi (MQM-H) was gunned down within the remits of Landhi police station. Police said that the dead body of Muhammad Yamin, 35, resident of Lane 1, No 2, Landhi was found from a high roof vehicle parked near his residence. Police said that the deceased was affiliated with MQM-H. The case was registered on the complaint of deceased brother Naeem against unknown assailants. Similarly, Muhammad Ramzan 38, another MQM-H activist was shot dead with limits of Saodabad police limits. Police said that deceased was the worker of MQM-H and get to back to home when armed men on a motorbike shot him near Liaquat Market, Malir. He was a pushcart vendor in the Liaquat Market and returning home when the incident took place. Police registered an FIR against unknown assailants on the complaint of deceased brother M Aslam. On the other side, 30-year-old Imam Bux Baloch was found dead in his house located in limits of Pak Colony police limits. Police said that the deceased was killed some two days ago while his body was handed over to the family after autopsy. The case was yet to be registered. In another incident, police took into custody a man and his son on pillion riding and taken them to the New Karachi Industrial Area police station where 55-year-old Abdul Rehman died due to cardiac arrest. Police said that the deceased was on the way to police station when he died due to heart attack while family of deceased termed it a murder because of the police torture. The FIR of the case was yet to be registered. ASI Nazir, Head Constable Shabbir, Constable Akhtar and police mobile driver Siddique were suspended. In a road mishap, 12-year-old Ahmed, son of Ghulam Muhammad, was knocked to death when a speedy vehicle hit him near Qasba Mor, Orangi Town, within the limits of Pir Abad police station. Ahmed was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctor pronounced his death.
