KARACHI - Awami National Party (ANP) Sindh President Shahi Syed on Monday underlined the need of legislation to making Karachi a weapon free city. In a statement issued here, he demanded the Federal Interior Minister to take steps regarding making the city a weapon free for the durable peace and prosperity of the citizens of the metropolis. He welcomed the efforts for maintaining peace in the City and asked the Karachiites to foil conspiracies, being hatched by the non-state actors to push the metropolis to the brink of sectarian as well as ethnic strife. He urged all the ethnic groups to come forwards and play their role to make durable peace in the City, as Karachi is the economical hub of the Country. The ANP Sindh president offered the government that Pukhtoon community of the metropolis was ready to sacrifice their ages old tradition for the lasting peace of Karachi, if the government implement the suggestions of MQM to make Karachi a weapon free city. He asked the government to voluntarily recover weapons from the areas of Karachi and open all the areas of Karachi for all political parties and law enforcement agencies.
