Edu Dept directed to create sweepers posts

LAHORE - Chairman Public Accounts Committee (PAC-1) Ch Zaheerud Din has directed the Education Department to create vacancies of sweepers for the public sector schools in Punjab, as the shortage of sweepers compelled the students to clean the premises of their schools. Chairman PAC-1 has given these directions while heading a meeting of the Committee held to deliberate on audit paras of Education Department on Monday at the Punjab Assembly. The Committee members who attended the meeting include Syed Nazim Hussain Shah, Rana Abdul Rehman, Mohsin Leghari, Zaib Jaffar, Mehr Ishtiaq and Ch Arshad. PAC-1 was told that there were several colleges and schools in the province whose buildings were completed but teacher and other staff could not be appointed due to the shortage of funds and there were 87 colleges and schools in Faisalabad district only which could not start operations due to shortage of funds. Ch Zaheer directed the authorities concerned that any project of college and school should be fully funded in the future to avoid hindrances in accelerating the process of education in the province. PAC-1 was further told that there was several examples of such teachers who remain on leave from duty but receive their salaries on regular basis. The Committee in this connection directed the Education Department to get register FIRs against all the persons concerned and also directed the district administration and district accounts department for devising a mechanism that bar any official of the department concerned from getting his salary without attending the duty. PhD degree awarded Dr Muhammad Shafique, senior research officer in Punjab Board of Technical Education (PBTE) has done PhD by the Dissertation Examination Committee appointed by the Board of advance studies and Research of National College of Business Administration & Economics. Muhammad Shafique conferred the degree of Doctor of philosophy (PhD) in Business Administration. The title of his thesis was increasing employee retention and measuring its performance benefits.
