ISLAMABAD - Secretary General PML-Q Mushahid Hussain Sayed has asked the Government to take up the issue of Indian Army Chief Deepak Kapoors reckless statement at UN Security Council. Addressing a press conference here at PML House on Monday, Mushahid said Pakistan should take up the issue at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) so that the whole world should know who stands for peace and who is against regional peace. He said Kapoors statement has jeopardised the security of entire South Asian region. He demanded of the Indian government to fire its army chief on his irresponsible statement. He also asked the foreign ministry to clarify from Indian government that whether or not the statement was from Indian government. Today Pakistan is facing international conspiracies and General Kapoors irresponsible statement is a part of a vicious plot which has jeopardised the security of entire region. If this statement is nothing to do with Indian government, Manmohan Singh should immediately sack Kapoor for putting the security of entire region at risk, Mushahid said. Criticising Kapoor, Mushahid said it was the height of irresponsibility that the Indian Army Chief, out of the blue, talked of launching a war of aggression against two peaceful neighbours, Pakistan and China. He added that the whole nation is united in its resolve to stand behind the Armed Forces of Pakistan to defend the country from any threat and they resolutely reject the militaristic, jingoism of the Indian Army Chief, which represents the outdated hawkish mindset of the Indian establishment. Calling for national unity and integrity on this critical juncture, Mushahid asked the government to convene an All Parties Conference (APC) to devise a unanimous anti-terrorism strategy to face the threats. Talking about Karachi Ashura procession blast, Mushahid said that it was a plot to inflame sectarian and lingual conflicts. Terming it an attack on the countrys economy, he said some government ministers are making irresponsible statements. Calling for a judicial commission to probe into the attack, he said a Supreme Court judge should head the commission so as the real culprits involved in the attack could be unmasked. The nation wants to know why 27,000 police and Rangers personnel did not intervene when vicious elements were busy looting and ransacking shops. This should also be unearthed why did security forces not fire at the rogue elements and all shops were burnt? he added. Rejecting the impression of any threat to the democratic system in the country, Mushahid said it is necessary for some ministers to stop giving irresponsible statements, which may create further misunderstandings. To a query, he said the Government should do something practically for resolving the issues faced by people rather than making controversial speeches against judiciary and Pakistani Armed Forces. He also announced that PML-Q would participate in bye-elections of NA-55 and others.
